PADI Advanced Course Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Advanced Course you must be certified as an Open Water Diver with PADI or another recognized training organization. You must be 10 years of age, although certain dives (like the Deep Dive) do require you to be at least 12 years old.

You should have current dive skills and all student divers enrolling in the PADI Advanced course are required to fill out the PADI Medical Statement. Please download and print out a copy. If you answer YES to any of the conditions you will need to see your doctor for clearance before we can begin your Advanced Diver scuba training.

Advanced Diver Course Duration

The PADI Advanced Diver course can be completed in as little as 2 days. Typically we schedule two mornings or afternoons of two tanks trips (4 dives total) plus one evening for the night dive. However, the night dive is not required, and we appreciate you are here on vacation, so we can spread your dives out over several days.

Advanced Diver Course Overview

The Advanced course is very much a practical program, no classroom time. The idea is to get practical experience in diving in different conditions with an experienced Instructor there to ensure your comfort, safety and enjoyment.

There are two required specialty dives, Deep and Underwater Navigation. You can then chose 3 more from, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night, Underwater Photo, Drift, Naturalist, Fish ID, Multi-level/Computer, Search & Recovery and more.

There is a book, PADI Adventures in Diving, from which you will need to read the 5 chapters and do the knowledge reviews for your chosen dives. You typically go over these knowledge reviews as part of your pre-dive briefings with your Instructor.

You can explore famous local dive sites like ‘Sand Falls’ down at 90 feet/27 meters where the reef channels the sand into an underwater sand fall or encounter  octopus, eels and lobsters while trying a night dive at Pelican Rock.

The Barefoot Dive Pro instructor team are all PADI Specialty Instructors in the areas of diving you may chose to try during the Advanced Course. If you enjoy a certain dive during your course, for example – the Underwater Photography Dive, we can arrange for further instruction, experience and the full PADI Underwater Photographer course for you.

During the PADI Advanced Diver courses many of our students really enjoy the excitement of exploring new sites, adding to their diving skills and seeing new reef creatures. If that sounds like you, we recommend taking your training to the next level with the Advanced Diver Specialty here in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
